3G/4G Interworking Function (IWF)

The Mitel (Mavenir) D7G in the Evolved Diameter Signaling Network
Mobile data traffic is booming, in large part due to the explosion in powerful, low cost IP-ready devices like smart phones, e-readers, PCs with dongles, and tablets. This explosion in smart devices is creating a concurrent wave of Diameter Signaling. Accelerating data growth and recent high-profile network outages make it clear that “business as usual” is no longer sufficient for the Diameter Signaling Network. Mitel’s Diameter SS7 Gateway (D7G) allows for effective management of the network and continued interworking between 2G, 3G, and 4G systems.

Description

The Evolved Diameter Signaling Network is critical to the operator’s success. Effective management of the network is essential for continued revenue growth.

And continued interworking between 2G, 3G, and 4G systems will remain a priority for the foreseeable future.  This will be especially true for LTE Roaming and Wi-Fi Offload functionality

Mitel D7G Diameter SS7 Gateway Use Cases

The Mitel (Mavenir) D7G

Mitel’s Diameter SS7 Gateway (D7G) product allows operators to grow their networks incrementally, with interworking between 2G, 3G, and 4G components.  The D7G can be co-deployed with the Mitel DSC for a complete Evolved Diameter Signaling Network solution.  When co-deployed, the DSC addresses requirements for LTE Routing and Roaming while the Mitel D7G addresses interworking requirements between 4G-based network elements (using Diameter) and 2/3G network elements (using SS7 MAP).

The Mitel D7G product is based upon Mitel’s widely deployed Signalware platform and the Mitel Diameter stack. The D7G has a complete OA&M capability for ease of operations..
