eNodeB Emulator

The LTE eNodeB Emulator can act as single or multiple User Equipment units and eNodeB base stations in a mobile network forĀ lab testing of LTE Core Network elements or even complete LTE EPC tests.

Description

The LTE eNodeB Emulator can be used for lab testing of the LTE Evolved Packet Core (EPC), replacingĀ User Equipment (UE) units and base stations (eNodeB) in the network.

The eNodeB Emulator allows testing in a variety of network topologies, a feature which enables:

  • Effective utilization of lab equipment
  • Reduction in CapEx
  • Reduction in ongoing support costs (OpEx) associated with a test lab

The eNodeB Emulator includes UE simulation, and can be used to test the complete LTE Packet Core or individual Core Network elements, MME, S-GW, P-GW. It implements all the required protocols – S1AP/SCTP to communicate with MMEs over S1-MME interface and GTP-u to communicate with S-GW over S1-U interface.

Compared to real UEs and eNodeBs, the eNodeB Emulator provides greater control to simulate field network conditions in the lab and can thereby be used for functionality, scalability and performance testing of the LTE Core Network.

The eNodeB Emulator can also be used along with the LTE EPC Emulators from Polaris for an end-to-end simulation of an LTE network on a PC.

Main Features:

  • Advanced Emulator (Not Simulator)
  • Capable of simulating multiple UEs and eNodeBs
  • Tests failure scenarios
  • User-friendly GUI
  • Scripting interface for test automation
