LTE/GTP 40Gb Probe

LTE Monitoring is a big challenge for Monitoring vendors because of the large amounts of traffic that are delivered from over the network. Modern installations mainly use 10 GBit links, and the Packetmaster EX484-3 was perfectly designed to address this issue by having 48 10G ports and the non-blocking full-rate design.



The Cubro Packetmaster EX 484-3 is a modern Network Packet Broker and network controller switch that aggregates, filters and load balances network traffic sent to network monitoring, security and management tools. The large amount of filters (4000) is very useful. In this installation, 6×10 Gbit links and 2×1 Gbit links are the input, and the output ports are also 6×10 Gbit to the probing system and one additional Gbit output to a Wireshark server.

The Cubro Packetmaster EX484-3 allows you to filter and load-balance traffic from your 10-Gbps link to multiple 1-Gbps monitoring tools or aggregate multiple 1-Gbps links to 10-Gbps monitoring tools. Cubro Packetmaster EX484-3 also supports traffic modification, changing, removing and adding VLAN’s.

We use 48 VLAN, IP, PORT filters to separate the traffic in the right way. The filter for the Wire shark server is dynamic and is handled by the operators of the system. The additional sFlow generation is used to monitor the Monitoring system in order for it to have two separate figures for the layer 1 – 4 traffic.

These flows are produced by the Packetmaster EX484-3 and sent every 30 seconds to the flow collector (sFlow and nFlow are standard data which are produced from many different network elements. There are many flow collectors available on the market, some of which are free).
